JOB DESCRIPTION
Support GTH and OIREN in activities and production of advocacy materials aimed at highlighting GTH-OIREN’s advocacy priorities in order to influence decision-makers and other stakeholders to:
respect for humanitarian principles and international humanitarian law,
promote humanitarian access,
facilitate the work of humanitarian actors,
ensure adequate funding for the humanitarian response.
SPECIFIC POSITION OBJECTIVES
Objective 1 :
Supervise and support the GTH-OIREN Advocacy Technical Group
Organize regular meetings of the GTH-OIREN Advocacy technical group and the Advocacy focal points of the GTH members;
Organize and facilitate an annual GTH-OIREN advocacy strategic planning workshop.
Objective 2: Update the GTH-OIREN advocacy strategy in line with the GTH action plan
Update the GTH-OIREN advocacy strategy in line with the chosen priorities;
Develop and update the annual advocacy action plan, in collaboration with the advocacy focal points of the GTH members;
Ensure ownership of the annual advocacy action plan by all members of the GTH.
Objective 3 :
Ensure the implementation of the GTH-OIREN advocacy strategy
Coordinate information management, fact collection and capitalization necessary for GTH-OIREN advocacy;
Consolidate the analysis of the situation on the selected advocacy areas;
Write/consolidate advocacy documents and materials (summary note, declarations, positioning notes, etc.);
Collaborate in the production of internal and external communication documents;
Represent the GTH-OIREN and participate in advocacy meetings and meetings in coordination with the GTH-OIREN Advocacy technical group
Ensure monitoring and reporting of indicators related to advocacy.
Contribute to regional initiatives and ensure the implementation of regional advocacy actions.
The above responsibilities are not exhaustive. The Advocacy Manager may be asked to carry out any other task related to their role.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree in an appropriate field such as Communication, development, international relations.
Minimum of 2 years of field experience, preferably in the field of advocacy and communication.
Fluency in French and English (oral and written); knowledge of local languages of Niger will be a great asset.
Experience working in coordination with international and national organizations.
Great analytical skills and ability to work both independently and in a team.
Versatility, ability to easily overcome pressure, ability to improvise, flexibility and sensitivity to cultural diversity.
