How can you make a difference?

The Child Protection Officer, under the supervision of the Child Protection Specialist, will provide technical, operational, and administrative support for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of progress toward achieving results aimed at accelerating:
i) the scaling up of interventions to prevent child marriage and promote the empowerment of adolescent girls; and
ii) enhancing the visibility of interventions in the targeted regions, particularly through key strategic partnerships in the regions of Niamey, Tillabéri, and Dosso.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support for activity planning
Technical and operational support for programme implementation
Partnership development and networking
Innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building

Minimum requirements:

Education: Have at least a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree, BAC+3) in social or economic sciences, international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant technical field.
Work Experience: At least two years of relevant professional experience in the planning and management of social development projects and/or other areas of the social and/or economic sciences.

Skills: To be considered for this role, candidates are required to have expertise in child protection, child marriage prevention, programme management, monitoring and evaluation, community engagement, and partnership development.
Language Requirements: Proficiency in French and a good knowledge of English are required. Knowledge of a local language or another official United Nations language (Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, or Russian) would be an asset.

Desirables:

Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language
Relevant experience in the field of child protection, as well as in the design and management of programmes/projects within a United Nations system organization, is considered an asset.
Previous experience in the prevention of child marriage and the empowerment of adolescent girls, particularly within the United Nations system, is a distinct advantage.
Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is an additional asset.
Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
